The Los Angeles Angels wrapped up their trip to Toronto with a 6-1 win over the Blue Jays. Jo Adell smashed two solo homers, and Oswald Peraza added a two-run shot.
José Soriano delivered a dominant start. The Angels’ bullpen held steady, while Toronto’s lineup barely threatened.
This win snapped an eight-game road losing streak that had stretched back to April. The Angels also ended a nine-game skid in Toronto, which honestly must feel like a relief.
Angels snap road woes in Toronto with a 6-1 victory
The Angels struck early and never really let go of the lead. Their offense finally broke through against Toronto’s rotation, which hasn’t been easy for them in the past.
Pitching masterclass: José Soriano leaves Jays stifled
José Soriano was the main story on the mound, going 7 2/3 innings, striking out seven, and giving up just two hits. He ran into a little trouble in the first, allowing an RBI double to Kazuma Okamoto and a walk, but he quickly settled down.
After that, Soriano retired 20 straight batters until an infield hit ended his streak in the eighth. Sam Bachman entered with the bases loaded and got Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to ground out, keeping the Angels comfortably ahead.
Toronto’s offense just couldn’t figure Soriano out. He mixed his pitches well and kept the Blue Jays guessing all night.
Soriano really needed a strong start after three shaky outings. He gave Anaheim exactly what they needed and let the offense do its thing.
Offensive eruption: Adell and Peraza power Los Angeles
The Angels did most of their damage with home runs. Jo Adell hit two solo shots, giving the team a cushion both early and late.
Oswald Peraza joined in with a two-run homer that put the game out of reach. Vaughn Grissom added a two-run double late, just to make sure.
All three Angels homers came off Eric Lauer, who lasted five innings and gave up six runs on five hits. Lauer hasn’t won since March 29, and this outing didn’t help.
The Jays’ defense and bullpen couldn’t stop the bleeding. The Angels walked out with a decisive 6-1 win.
Toronto didn’t have one of their recent bright spots, either. Addison Barger was scratched with a sore right shoulder after just coming back from a long ankle injury, which probably threw off Toronto’s plans for the day.
What’s next?
The Angels finally got a road win and broke their Toronto losing streak. It’s a reminder that when the pitching and power show up together, this team can look pretty good.
