Reliever Aaron Ashby delivered an ice-cold performance to secure a thrilling 5-4 victory for the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 2 of the Fall Classic. By earning a tough five-out save, Ashby helped his club take a commanding two-game lead in the championship series.
This remarkable display comes hot on the heels of another stellar outing just one night prior when he also recorded five crucial outs. Fans tracking the Baseball News cycle are watching a truly historic postseason bullpen run unfold in real-time.
Ashby Enters Postseason History Books
With his latest scoreless appearance, Ashby extended his incredible postseason scoreless streak to 15 2/3 innings. This feat allowed him to surpass legendary playoff marks previously set by iconic hurlers like Goose Gossage and Andy Hawkins.
His streak now sits comfortably in second place all-time for consecutive postseason frames without allowing a run. He trails only Andrew Miller’s legendary 16 scoreless innings recorded during the chaotic 2016 playoffs.
Trusting the Mental Sweet Spot
Manager Pat Murphy boldly bypassed his traditional closer in the final frame to deploy Ashby against the heart of the opponent’s batting order. This high-stakes strategy paid off despite a stressful leadoff double in the ninth inning.
Ashby calmly navigated the threat by striking out Yandy DÃaz on a dramatic 3-2 pitch to slam the door shut. While opposing hitters reacted with intense frustration, the reliever walked off the mound completely unfazed.
Key Highlights of Ashby’s Dominant Run:
- Secured a 5-4 victory with a clutch five-out save.

- Overcame major career hurdles including serious shoulder surgery.
Ashby later attributed his unwavering on-field composure to deep breathing techniques and discovering a sense of inner peace. After pushing through years of adversity, he has unlocked the ultimate mental sweet spot.
As the series shifts locations, the discussion naturally turns toward individual hardware and historical greatness. If he keeps this up, the bullpen maestro will cement his legacy permanently.
What Lies Ahead in the Series:
- The Brewers hold a strong 2-0 advantage heading into the next phase.
- Ashby has quickly emerged as an early front-runner for World Series MVP honors.
- Opposing lineups are searching for answers against his devastating pitch mix.
